A whistleblower lawsuit unsealed this week accuses IBM of concealing a massive Chinese state-sponsored hacking campaign. Former IBM VP of threat intelligence William Barlow alleges APT 10 hackers breached IBM's network over 56,000 times between 2013 and 2016, compromising nearly 400 accounts and 200 systems across 18 countries. IBM allegedly never disclosed the breaches to US authorities despite being a major cybersecurity vendor to federal agencies. The company's infrastructure was described as 'archaic,' allowing hackers to 'roam almost anywhere undetected.' Additional breaches at IBM subsidiaries Trusteer and Truven were also allegedly concealed. IBM maintains it followed the law; the DOJ declined to intervene but the case is now being actively litigated in federal court.
