# Four ways engineering teams use the Datadog MCP Server to power AI agents

**[Datadog](https://daily.dev/sources/datadog)** · 8 min read · 1 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

The Datadog MCP Server is now generally available, connecting Datadog's observability tools to AI agents used in developer workflows like Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, and GitHub Copilot. Four customer use cases are highlighted: (1) an onboarding agent that guides developers to relevant monitors and dashboards based on team best practices; (2) an automated agent that detects unused services with no real user traffic and creates Jira tickets for decommissioning; (3) an incident response agent that correlates monitor alerts with recent feature flag changes to speed up root cause analysis; and (4) a cost monitoring agent that detects anomalous cloud spend spikes and notifies service owners automatically. Each use case demonstrates how the MCP Server enables background agents to automate previously manual engineering workflows.
