# Fraunhofer ILT Develops Laser System for 2,000-Qubit Neutral-Atom Quantum Computer

## Summary

Fraunhofer ILT has developed and commissioned a compact laser-optical system for the University of Stuttgart's Rydberg atom quantum computer. The system generates 2,000 individually controllable optical tweezers from just four input laser beams, arranging strontium Rydberg atoms in a 20×100 array with 3.5-micrometer spacing and sub-100-nanometer positioning accuracy. The entire optical platform — comprising over 150 components including beam-splitter cubes, acousto-optic deflectors, a custom segmented step mirror, and a telecentric relay unit — fits within one square meter. The design enables both precise atom trapping and dynamic rearrangement during computation, supporting scalable quantum logic gate operations based on Rydberg blockade interactions.
