It follows material design principles and is designed to be easy to develop. The desktop does work without the runtime dependencies but the experience will be degraded. You can compile FyneDesk using the same dependencies as Fyne and for a full desktop experience, you will also need external tools like arandr, xbacklight or brightnessctl, connman-gtk, and compton installed.
