The inaugural Python Packaging Council (PPC) election nomination period opens July 28th and closes August 11th, 2026. The PPC will serve as the technical decision-making body for Python packaging interoperability specifications, coordinating among packaging tool maintainers, the Python core team, and the broader community. The inaugural election fills all five council seats, with the top two vote-getters serving two-year terms (Cohort A) and the next three serving one-year terms (Cohort B). Nominees must be PSF voting members and submit a nomination statement including relevant affiliations. Voting runs September 1–15, with a voter affirmation deadline of August 25th.
