Key capabilities covered include: prefetching via `git maintenance` to keep fetches fast, commit graph files to speed up history traversal, the fsmonitor daemon for faster `git status`, blobless partial clones (`--filter=blob:none`) to dramatically reduce clone size and time, and sparse checkouts to limit working directory to relevant subdirectories. The `scalar` command (bundled since Git 2.38) wraps all these settings into a single convenient clone command.
