# [GitHub commits now name the last theme editor](https://api.daily.dev/r/1CcLQgrBK "Go to post")

Shopify's GitHub app now includes the name of the theme editor who last saved changes in the commit body pushed to a connected branch, alongside the shop name. The commit author remains the shopify bot, so git blame and commit avatars are unaffected. Edits saved within roughly 10 seconds of each other are batched into a single commit crediting whoever saved last, and shops with no recorded editor still show only the shop name.

Questions this post answers

Does Shopify's GitHub integration now show who edited a theme in the commit?

Yes, commits pushed by Shopify's GitHub app to a connected branch now include a 'Theme last edited by' line naming the editor in the commit body, along with the shop name. The commit author stays the shopify bot, so git blame and the commit avatar still show the bot rather than the editor. Track platform changes like Shopify's commit metadata updates on daily.dev before they affect your workflow.

How does Shopify handle multiple quick edits when generating GitHub commits for theme changes?

Edits saved within about 10 seconds of each other are batched into a single commit, and the commit body names only whoever saved last, not everyone who contributed. If no editor is recorded for the theme, the commit body falls back to listing just the shop name, as it did before. Developers syncing Shopify themes to GitHub can follow integration nuances like this on daily.dev.
