# GitHub Copilot app generally available

## Summary

GitHub Copilot app has reached general availability for macOS, Windows, and Linux. The desktop app is designed for agent-driven development and lets users start sessions from issues, pull requests, or prompts, running parallel sessions across repositories on separate branches and worktrees. New features added since the technical preview include Canvases (bidirectional surfaces for collaborating with the agent on plans, PRs, terminals, or browser sessions), Cloud automations (scheduled recurring agent work that runs without your machine), and support for custom models and external tools via MCP servers. Organizations on Copilot Business or Enterprise plans require the Copilot CLI to be enabled in policy settings.
