# GitHub PR Stacks goes live, Nubank migrates 135M-customer payments to Aurora

**[Backend Digest](https://daily.dev/sources/backend_digest)** · 5 min read · 6 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

GitHub's stacked PRs feature is landing with early users reporting it's already changing how they work, while Nubank completed a zero-downtime migration of its NuPay payment infrastructure to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, cutting query times from 13 minutes to seconds. Supabase Pipelines hit public alpha with Postgres CDC to BigQuery, adding automatic schema change detection. A Zhejiang University paper shows 1,000 synchronized GPUs can destabilize power grids, with no patch possible given the structural gap between datacenter and grid monitoring.

## GitHub PR Stacks enters preview, early users report immediate workflow change

GitHub's stacked diffs feature is now in preview with a waitlist open. Early access users including John Resig report landing five stacked PRs directly into a merge queue simultaneously. The feature removes the manual rebase-and-wait cycle that makes stacked development painful in practice, and teams with access say it's already changed how they structure work after just a day or two. ## Nubank migrates NuPay payments for 135M customers to Aurora PostgreSQL, 1,900x query improvement in specific cases

Nubank moved its NuPay payment infrastructure from self-managed PostgreSQL to Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL to fix queries taking over 13 minutes and replication lag exceeding 4 minutes at peak. Aurora's shared storage architecture and Query Plan Management delivered up to 1,900x query performance improvement in specific cases and 15-20% average improvement across production workloads. Replication lag dropped from 3-4 minutes to a few seconds, maintenance windows shrank from 11 hours to 1-1.5 hours, and consolidating from three instances to two cut costs by 25%. The actual cutover took just over an hour against a 5-hour maintenance window using AWS DMS with 10 parallel tasks and CDC. [Read more](https://daily.dev/posts/uHKWMXH9s)

## Supabase Pipelines public alpha: Postgres CDC to BigQuery with automatic schema change support

Supabase Pipelines is now in public alpha, replicating Postgres data to BigQuery in near real-time using logical replication. The headline addition is automatic schema change detection — adding, removing, or renaming columns and changing nullability now propagates without manual intervention, which was the main operational pain point before. Initial sync is now parallelized across and within tables. Pricing is $0.053/hour per active pipeline plus $0.60/GB for initial copy and $3/GB for ongoing replication. ClickHouse, Snowflake, and DuckLake are next. [Read more](https://daily.dev/posts/8Mkx7whU4)

## Bit2Watt: 1,000 synchronized GPUs can destabilize power grids, no patch available

Researchers at Zhejiang University published Bit2Watt, showing a malicious cloud tenant can weaponize GPU workloads to attack electrical infrastructure by rapidly toggling compute states to create oscillating power draws. Simulations show 1,000 synchronized GPUs wasted nearly half available current on a small solar-fed grid, and a model of a European transmission network shed 81% of load in a cascading failure. The attack hides inside a legitimate AI training run. There's no fix — standard power monitoring is too slow to detect the oscillations, and datacenters and grid operators have no shared alerting layer. A reverse variant called Watt2Bit runs the other direction: grid stress can overheat servers and cause denial of service. [Read more](https://daily.dev/posts/n3awiAyBK)
