# Give your agent its own computer

**[LangChain](https://daily.dev/sources/langchain)** · 7 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

LangSmith Sandboxes provide AI agents with isolated, hardware-virtualized microVM environments — giving each agent its own filesystem, shell, package manager, and persistent state. Unlike Docker containers, these sandboxes offer kernel-level isolation to safely run untrusted, model-generated code. Key features include instant startup, snapshots and forks with copy-on-write, pre-warmed blueprints, service URLs for local servers, and an auth proxy that keeps secrets out of the agent runtime. The post argues that agents capable of executing code — not just reasoning — represent the next leap in capability, enabling coding assistants, CI agents, data pipelines, and RL eval harnesses to operate at scale.
