GVFS dropped its libgdata dependency about ten months ago, and GNOME Online Accounts no longer offers the Files toggle under Google provider settings as a result. A further complication was that libgdata was the last reason libsoup2 remained in the GNOME stack, a library already being phased out and carrying multiple open CVEs including HTTP request smuggling and authentication flaws. GNOME developer Michael Catanzaro noted a public call for a maintainer was made back in December 2022 with no response.
