GNOME Resources, a feature-rich system monitor app with NPU/GPU monitoring and broader device support, is on track to replace the stagnant GNOME System Monitor as a core GNOME component. The project has moved into the GNOME Incubator on GitLab, and a merge request has been opened to swap out the default app in GNOME Shell. If the process completes on schedule, GNOME 51 (September) will ship Resources as the default; otherwise GNOME 52 is the fallback. Ubuntu has already made this switch.
