EGLStreams was NVIDIA's original Wayland integration path, but it never gained broad adoption outside NVIDIA. Since NVIDIA has long since moved to the standard DMA-BUF, GBM, and KMS approach used by the rest of the Linux graphics ecosystem, the legacy code is now being cleaned up.
