The GNOME Foundation has announced the first two participants of its fellowship program: Peter Eisenmann and Sophie Herold. Starting in July, they will spend twelve months working on GNOME's long-term sustainability. Sophie will establish a new RFC process for project governance and work on more maintainable and secure libraries through Rust adoption. Peter will modernize the Files app, including improvements to thumbnailing, user directory localization, and adoption of modern GNOME platform conventions.
