<p>If you’ve used Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or Gemini CLI on a Godot 4 project, you’ve seen it: the agent confidently writes Godot 3 syntax, invents an API that never existed, or hand-waves through something it clearly doesn’t understand. That gap is exactly what <a href="https://github.com/jame581/GodotPrompter" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">GodotPrompter</a> exists to close — it gives AI coding agents structured, Godot 4.x-specific knowledge they load on demand instead of guessing from stale training data.</p>
<p>v1.9.0 just landed, and it targets the three areas where agents tend to fail the hardest: <strong>native extensions, multithreading, and mobile shipping.</strong> The catalog goes from 45 to 48 skills.</p>
<h2>Why these three?</h2>
<p>It’s not a coincidence that these were the gaps. They’re the corners of Godot where the “obvious” answer is usually wrong, and where a hallucinated API costs you an hour of debugging instead of a quick fix.</p>
<ul>
<li><strong>GDExtension</strong> has its own binding macros, a strict <code>.gdextension</code> file format, and compatibility rules that aren’t intuitive. Get a macro name wrong and nothing compiles.</li>
<li><strong>Multithreading</strong> in Godot has hard safety rules — the main thread owns the scene tree, some servers are only thread-safe after you opt in, and <code>AStar</code> isn’t thread-safe at all. An agent that doesn’t know these will write code that races or crashes intermittently.</li>
<li><strong>Mobile</strong> is a minefield of version gates. <code>JavaClassWrapper</code> is 4.4+, C# Android export needs .NET 9, v2 plugins are 4.2+. An agent without that context will happily mix features that can’t coexist.</li>

<h2>What shipped</h2>
<p><code>gdextension</code> — native extensions with godot-cpp (C++) and gdext (Rust). Covers when to actually go native versus staying in GDScript/C#, project and build setup, <code>ClassDB</code> class binding, the <code>.gdextension</code> file layout, the forward-but-not-backward compatibility rule, and calling your extension from both GDScript and C#. Reference files dig into the Rust path and native debugging.</p>
<p><code>multithreading</code> — <code>WorkerThreadPool</code> (the preferred high-level API), low-level <code>Thread</code>/<code>Mutex</code>/<code>Semaphore</code> for long-lived workers, <code>call_deferred</code> for safely handing results back to the main thread, and threaded resource loading with a real per-frame polling loop. Full C# parity, including the <code>System.Threading</code>/<code>Task</code> story and the <code>CallDeferred</code> snake-case gotcha that trips up C# users. A <code>pitfalls</code> reference covers deadlocks and data races.</p>
<p><code>mobile-development</code> — Android/iOS export and signing, app lifecycle notifications (autosave-on-background, the iOS ~5s budget), runtime permissions, the modern <code>JavaClassWrapper</code>/<code>AndroidRuntime</code> path for hitting Android APIs without a plugin, safe-area/notch handling, the mobile renderer and texture-compression budget, and C#-on-mobile caveats. <p>This release also adds a new <strong>Native &amp; Performance</strong> category to the catalog and wires all three skills into the cross-reference graph, so an agent already working in <code>godot-optimization</code> or <code>csharp-godot</code> gets pointed to them at the right moment.</p>
<h2>Grounded, not guessed</h2>
<p>The whole point of this project is to <em>not</em> feed agents the same vague knowledge they already hallucinate from. So every one of these skills was authored against a local clone of the official Godot docs — real signatures, real macros, the actual <code>.gdextension</code> file format, all spot-verified against source. Where the official docs are silent (C# parity for the threading primitives, the threaded-loading polling loop, the permissions result callback), those examples are authored and clearly flagged as such rather than invented and presented as canon.</p>
<p>Every <code>SKILL.md</code> stays under the 16 KB token budget, and the validator reports 0 errors at release. The repo-wide minimum is still Godot 4.3+, with anything that needs a newer engine (like <code>JavaClassWrapper</code> at 4.4+) labeled inline.</p>
