# Google broke the law. It's paid no price. Congress can change that.

## Summary

Nearly two years after a federal court ruled Google an illegal monopolist in search, no meaningful remedies have taken effect. Google continues to pay billions to be the default search engine on devices and browsers, while its data scale advantage compounds daily. The newly introduced SEARCH Act, sponsored by Senators Klobuchar and Schmitt, would prohibit Google from paying for default placement, require it to share search data with rivals, and apply similar rules to AI. DuckDuckGo publicly endorses the bill and urges Congress to pass it.
