The flagship vision-language-action model drives an entire humanoid — legs, torso, arms, and hands — from a single natural language prompt. A reasoning layer (Gemini Robotics ER 2) handles multi-step planning, can use tools like Google Search, coordinate multiple robots as a team, and is now available to developers via the Gemini API. A third on-device model runs locally and can adapt to a new robot body with fewer than 200 examples in a few hours. Despite impressive demos, dexterity remains limited — success rates for fiddly tasks like tying a trash bag sit around 40–44%, and robots are still slow. DeepMind also released a safety benchmark called ASIMOV-Agentic.
