Google is about to disable uBlock Origin and every other Manifest V2 extension in Chrome

Chrome 150, scheduled for June 30, will remove the last flag keeping Manifest V2 extensions alive, permanently disabling uBlock Origin and all content blockers that rely on dynamic filtering. The change replaces the webRequest API with the declarativeNetRequest API, which limits extensions to static, predefined rule sets and caps the number of filtering rules. uBlock Origin's developer has stated that a full MV3 equivalent is not possible. Critics argue the move serves Google's advertising business interests alongside genuine security concerns. Firefox and Brave continue to support full-capability content blocking. Affected users can switch browsers, install the reduced-functionality uBlock Origin Lite, or accept that Chrome will silently disable their extension.
