# Google releases new privacy controls for activity history, personalization

**[BleepingComputer](https://daily.dev/sources/bleepingcomputer)** · 6 min read · 0 upvotes · 0 comments

## Summary

Google is rolling out new privacy controls that separate activity history and personalization settings for Search services and Google Play. Previously managed under a single 'Web & App Activity' toggle, users will now have distinct controls: Search Services History (whether activity is saved), Personalized Recommendations (whether saved data is used to tailor results), and equivalent settings for Google Play. A notable detail is that Google will now also save media — including images, audio, and video from interactions like Google Lens and voice search — to Search Services History by default if Web & App Activity is currently enabled. This saved media can be used to improve Google services and AI models. Users can turn off the Save Media subsetting and delete individual items at any time. The new settings will roll out to Google Accounts over the next few days.
