Google’s latest AI video generator renders implausible situations for cute animals

Google has unveiled Lumiere, an advanced AI video generator that can create realistic videos of cute animals in various scenarios. It utilizes a unique architecture to generate the entire temporal duration of a video in one smooth process. Lumiere can also perform text-to-video generation, convert images into videos, apply video editing, create cinemagraphs, and change the appearance of people in videos. While the AI-generated videos are still considered low-resolution, user studies have shown them to be preferred over existing video synthesis models. The technology, however, raises concerns about potential misuse and the creation of deepfakes.
