Built by SubCom and owned through Google's Starfish Infrastructure subsidiary, the cable runs 16 fibre pairs at a total design capacity of 384Tbps over roughly 6,900km. It joins Google's existing Atlantic cables Firmina and Equiano, forming a company-owned lattice that provides redundancy and end-to-end bandwidth control. The primary driver is the surging data demand from AI model training and cloud workloads, which has pushed hyperscalers to own rather than lease undersea capacity.
