# Grok 4.6 & 4.7 in the next 4 weeks. The AI release cadence just went vertical.

## Summary

xAI is releasing Grok 4.6 (1.5T parameters, ~August 7) and Grok 4.7 (2.1T parameters, a few weeks later) in rapid succession, following Grok 4.5 released July 8. Key developer-relevant points: xAI is shipping frontier models on a near-monthly cadence, emphasizing real coding utility through Cursor training data and the Grok Build harness, and maintaining aggressive token pricing. The argument is that the competitive bottleneck has shifted from model scale to iteration velocity, and labs that can't match this pace will lose ground in developer tooling first.

## Content

Elon just confirmed the next two models:

- **Grok 4.6** → ~August 7 1.5T parameters, major upgrades to supervised fine-tuning + reinforcement learning
- **Grok 4.7** → a few weeks after that 2.1T parameters. Better in every way except slightly slower to serve (but higher token efficiency)

This comes right after Grok 4.5 (July 8) which was already positioned as Opus-class, cheaper, and trained with heavy Cursor coding data.

What’s actually interesting for us as developers:

1. They’re shipping frontier models on a near-monthly cadence while most labs still treat major releases as quarterly events.
2. Heavy emphasis on real coding utility (Cursor data + Grok Build harness) rather than just benchmark chasing.
3. Aggressive token pricing continues — the economic pressure this puts on the rest of the market is already visible.

Whether you love or hate the source, the signal is clear: the bottleneck is no longer “can we train a bigger model?” It’s “how fast can we iterate the entire stack and put it in developers’ hands.”

The labs that can’t match this velocity are going to feel it first in the IDE, not in the leaderboard.

Curious to hear how many of you are already defaulting to Grok for day-to-day coding work.
