His BEAVIS project (Balloon Enabled Aerial Vehicle for IoT and Sensing) addresses the core limitation of multirotors — poor endurance — by pairing a lightweight balloon with four horizontally-mounted motors, achieving over an hour of flight versus under ten minutes for a comparable pure multirotor. This evolved into Janus, a morphing quadrotor blimp with balloon failure resilience, capable of switching between lighter-than-air and conventional multirotor flight modes. Janus was deployed in Kenya for ecological data collection.
