The flaw, discovered by security researchers at Block, caused the wallets to generate predictable seed phrases due to a bug in the firmware dating back to 2021. This allowed attackers to brute-force victims' seed phrases without ever physically accessing the devices. At least a dozen hacker groups are believed to be involved. Victims report having followed all best practices — keeping devices offline, never sharing seed phrases — yet still lost funds.
