# Help Fund the People Who Build Rust

## Summary

The Rust Foundation is calling on individuals and organizations to financially support Rust maintainers through the Rust Foundation Maintainers Fund (RFMF). Contributions via GitHub Sponsors go directly to maintainers through a new Maintainer in Residence program and existing support channels. As Rust becomes embedded in critical infrastructure like the Linux kernel and Android, the sustainability of its small maintainer community is under pressure. The Foundation and the Rust Project Funding Team are coordinating to distribute funds transparently to those doing essential maintenance work.
