HeroUI v3 is a ground-up rewrite of the React component library formerly known as NextUI, now targeting both web and React Native. The release ships over 75 web components (21 new) and a new React Native library with 37 components. It is built on React Aria Components for accessibility and Tailwind CSS v4 for styling, with all animations moved to CSS and no JavaScript runtime dependency. The library adopts a compound component API compatible with React 19 and Next.js, and integrates AI tooling via an MCP Server, Agent Skills, and an llms.txt file. The npm package sees ~341,000 weekly downloads and the GitHub repo has ~27,700 stars. Migration from v2 requires careful planning as the two versions cannot coexist, though both full and incremental migration guides are available. Community feedback notes some v2 features are missing in v3, and there are concerns about roadmap transparency.

Great write-up! HeroUI v3 looks like a massive step forward — a ground-up rewrite with Tailwind CSS v4 support, React Native coverage, and no JS runtime dependency is exactly what the ecosystem needed. The MCP Server and Agent Skills integration is a nice forward-thinking touch too. Excited to see how the community adopts this!

cool looks like v3 has been out for a little bit, but either way it’s a nice UI library.

This has been out for a while now. I got excited thinking it finally worked for react and react native, but unfortunately no, this is just a late post and you still need separate libraries.
