The undeclared executable 'me.exe' was discovered during AppEsteem certification checks by Sophos and Sygnia. The miner added a Windows Defender exclusion, copied itself as 'HolaMonitorService.exe', created an auto-starting service, and ran when the computer was idle. Hola confirmed the breach, stating roughly 0.1% of users were affected with no evidence of data theft.
