# Home Lab 0.2

## Summary

A home lab build update covering the arrival of USB-C to barrel connector adapters from AliExpress, designed to replace bulky Dell laptop power bricks in a compact 10-inch server rack setup. FINALLY! I have been waiting weeks for these to come in from AliExpress. I have not given up on building it I know it’s been awhile between waiting for parts and work which is really busy right now, it’s taking me awhile to post updates on this home lab project. I did not know my last post would be so popular honestly I’m very appreciative of this community.

These are USB-C to barrel connectors specifically for Dell. They do have different ones for just about every other manufacturer I can think of. These are pretty awesome cause they display wattage and amperage power draw. Tested and confirmed this works when paired with a Anker Prime 200w charger multi-port desktop station. I’ll be within limits plugging in all 4 to one of these Anker stations, but I will probably add another to split the draw I don’t intend on doing any super heavy workloads, but you never know.

The reason I wanted these is to get rid of the 4 bulky power bricks putting them in a small 10 inch server rack would not only be difficult but would cause a cable management nightmare. The USB-C adapters feel heavy for how small they are. They are not plastic the housing is metal and the display as you can see is pretty clear. I’m not sure of the quality or how long they will last stay tuned and I will let you know for sure if and when they fail. They cost me $15 total with shipping. I have other things coming in and I’ll post as soon as I have made more progress. Thank you for reading I truly appreciate it. Any suggestions or feedback is always welcomed.
