Hoot 0.9.0 has been released — a Scheme to WebAssembly compiler backend for GNU Guile. Key changes include switching from legacy to standard Wasm exceptions, replacing function metadata with DWARF debug info, a new `hoot compile` CLI subcommand replacing `guild compile-wasm`, monomorphized bignum imports for non-JavaScript runtimes, and a new `hoot strip` command to remove debug data from Wasm binaries. The release also improves Wastrel (non-JS runtime) compatibility, fixes several bugs including a missing repl.js file from 0.8.0, and adds gamepad support to the game jam template. Browser compatibility covers Safari 26+, Firefox 121+, and Chrome 119+. Hoot is available via GNU Guix and Debian.
