The skill appeared legitimate by gaining GitHub reputation through a popular open-source repository, but pointed agents to an attacker-controlled domain that initially redirected to the real site. After gaining distribution, AIR changed the domain's content to deliver a script payload. The attack highlights that point-in-time static scanning is insufficient for AI agent skills, which can change behavior post-approval via mutable external URLs.
