Brooklyn Data shares its experience deploying Dagster's Compass, a Slack-native text-to-analytics tool, on top of Snowflake to enable self-service access to operational and financial data. The firm evaluated Compass against known dashboard outputs before rolling it out to its delivery excellence org. Key benefits include reducing time-to-answer from 5–10 minutes to 1–2 minutes, improved searchability of PSA data, and a governance model that uses private Slack channels, table-level access controls, and Git-managed context. A standout feature allows end users to submit context corrections directly from Slack as pull requests, keeping business knowledge close to the model. Brooklyn Data plans to expand usage to marketing data via a dedicated Slack channel.
