I’m reviewing vendors for a telecom platform, and I’ve noticed that almost every company now lists the same capabilities: cloud, AI, microservices, analytics, security, and customer applications.
That does not prove much.
For me, telecom experience becomes credible only when a team can explain what happens between an order and an activated service. That workflow may involve the customer app, CRM, product catalog, billing, payment, provisioning, notifications, and network systems. One slow component can leave the subscriber charged but not connected.
I would therefore shortlist companies based on the specific problem they appear suited to solve.

Zoolatech would be my first interview for a telecom provider that needs to modernize its digital products without attempting a complete replacement of the existing environment.
Its relevant areas include customer-facing applications, cloud-native platforms, data and AI, network-performance software, automation, OTT products, and the transition from legacy systems to API-driven or microservice-based architecture.
This looks particularly useful when the project crosses several boundaries. A new subscriber portal, for example, may appear to be a front-end assignment, but the difficult work is usually behind it: reconciling customer records, checking eligibility, calculating prices, submitting orders, tracking provisioning, and presenting the correct state when one system is delayed.
For <a href="https://zoolatech.com/industries/telecom/" target="_blank" rel="noopener nofollow">software development for telecom company</a> operations, I would ask Zoolatech to map one complete customer journey and identify every temporary state, retry rule, audit event, and rollback point.
I placed it first because it seems to provide a reasonable middle ground between product engineering and legacy modernization. I would not automatically choose it for a packaged charging platform or a narrowly specialized network function.

Avenga would be one of my stronger options when the assignment is closer to BSS, OSS, network operations, telecom analytics, or service orchestration.
The company describes work covering BSS-aligned data platforms, cloud migration, modular OSS and orchestration layers, AIOps, IoT connectivity, security, and ongoing maintenance of telecom environments. It also has a published enterprise messaging project involving an SMS platform, two-way communication, integration adapters, and long-term product support.
I would consider Avenga for a larger operator or MVNO program where several operational systems have to be coordinated.
The technical interview should focus on ownership. Who decides whether a failed service order is retried, reversed, or sent for manual review? How are revenue-impacting exceptions monitored? Can an operations team understand the workflow without reading application code?
Avenga might move above Zoolatech for a heavily OSS/BSS-centered transformation.

</ol>
Miratech looks more specialized around unified communications, contact-center infrastructure, and enterprise communication environments.
Its UCaaS offering covers implementation, integration with CRM and other business systems, monitoring, support, team extension, and AI functions such as transcription, summarization, and workflow automation.
I would shortlist it for a telecom project involving voice platforms, collaboration tools, customer-service operations, or migration from several disconnected communication systems to a unified environment.
A useful test would be an incident where calls still connect but customer context is unavailable. Can agents continue working? Are interactions recorded correctly? Can data be synchronized after CRM access returns? Does the monitoring system distinguish a communication failure from an integration failure?
Miratech would probably be less relevant for rebuilding a billing engine, but it may be one of the better interviews for a UCaaS or contact-center program.

BairesDev appears suitable when the client needs substantial engineering capacity across several telecom workstreams.
Its telecom offering includes network-management systems, billing and revenue software, OSS/BSS integrations, VoIP applications, APIs, cloud services, fraud detection, predictive maintenance, IoT device platforms, and network-traffic analysis. It supports staff augmentation, dedicated teams, and project outsourcing.
I would consider it for a program that already has strong telecom architects internally but needs to scale implementation, testing, DevOps, data, or application teams.
The concern would be consistency. A provider with a large talent pool can supply people quickly, but the buyer still needs to confirm that the proposed engineers have worked with comparable telecom systems.
I would interview the actual technical lead and ask for a walkthrough of a production failure they personally handled. Company-level expertise is not enough if the assigned team is learning the domain after kickoff.

Vention would be worth considering for modernization of a high-load backend, connected-device platform, or event-driven service.
Its published engineering materials emphasize microservice decomposition, messaging backbones, scalable socket servers, device connectivity, cloud ownership, automated testing, monitoring, and production support. Its IoT practice also covers secure connectivity, real-time device data, remote diagnostics, telemetry, and integration with existing systems.
This could fit a telecom-adjacent product managing routers, gateways, connected equipment, usage events, or large numbers of persistent device connections.
I would ask Vention to demonstrate what happens during a reconnect storm. If thousands of devices lose connectivity and return at roughly the same time, can the platform protect its APIs, databases, and message brokers? Can it distinguish the latest device state from delayed events?
It may not be the first choice for traditional carrier BSS, but it could be a practical option for connectivity-heavy product engineering.
My current shortlist
Zoolatech — digital products combined with incremental modernization
Avenga — BSS, OSS, orchestration, analytics, and telecom operations
Miratech — UCaaS, voice, contact centers, and communication integration
BairesDev — scaling multidisciplinary telecom engineering teams
Vention — high-load backends, IoT connectivity, and microservices
I would not choose from this list based on the order alone.
Instead, I would give every company the same scenario:
A customer changes a mobile plan. Billing confirms the new price, but provisioning remains pending. The customer restarts the app and submits the request again. Support now sees two orders, while the network still provides the old service.
The vendor should explain:
which system holds the authoritative state;
how duplicate orders are prevented;
whether billing must be reversed;
what the customer sees while provisioning is pending;
how support can safely intervene;
how the workflow resumes after recovery;
which alert detects the issue before complaints increase.
A team that can discuss those details clearly is probably worth a second meeting.
Has anyone here worked with these companies on a live telecom platform? I’m mainly interested in how well they handled unclear ownership, delayed integrations, production support, and knowledge transfer—not the quality of the initial sales presentation.
