> I moved to Proton's ecosystem years ago.  All financial and medical emails go to that account.  Didn't want Google reading all my emails.  Pass has a nice feature to do signups with a vanity email that is auto generated.  VPN has been a great experience.   Willing to pay for services that don't resell my info.

> I’ve tried a couple of times, and it doesn’t matter, you always end up going back to using something from Google. Whether it’s for friends, family, or people you know, you end up needing an account with them. Take, for example, the backups of your Android phone. You can "try" to stop using their apps, but with the monopoly they have today, it’s impossible to get out of their ecosystem.
