> the idea of empowering women to start a coding career is because women are often told it's not for them before they even had a chance to try. because society has been that way for women to stay as a vessel for the family and leave alone their ideas of doing the "manly" job. depending what their background is, these stereotypes are engrained more or less in them. and having something like Women Who Code isn't saying that men are the reason there are less women in tech but the society and its outdated ideas are to be blamed.

> To be clear, WWC didn't shut down because it wasn't needed. It shut down because of lack of funding. [Per a BBC article](https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cw0769446nyo) in 2022 the charity brought in $4m but burned just under $4.2m.
