qubIT, a 15-developer Portuguese company, manages Fenix — an academic management platform with 4,000+ UI screens, 3,000 domain entities, and 120+ modules serving ~80,000 students across three major universities. Their approach centers on a Java-first development model using Vaadin for full-stack type safety, an internal platform called Omnis for code generation and automation, and reusable abstractions that eliminate repetitive work. The team estimates their full-stack Java model delivers 3–4x higher developer productivity compared to JavaScript-based approaches. Customers can also build their own extensions using the same internal tooling, reducing dependency on qubIT for customization.
