How Retool uses Retool (and the Neon API) to manage 300K+ Postgres databases

Retool partnered with Neon to power RetoolDB, their managed database offering built on serverless Postgres. Using the Neon API, Retool automates all database management tasks — including provisioning, pool management, and monitoring — through an internal tool built with Retool itself. Neon's scale-to-zero feature eliminates costs for idle databases, enabling Retool to manage over 300,000 Postgres database projects with just a single engineer. Each end user gets a dedicated Neon project with an isolated Postgres URL, simplifying fleet management and customer mapping.
