Supergood, an API observability platform, switched from Timescale to Neon for their Postgres database and saw significant developer productivity gains. The key feature driving this was Neon's database branching, which uses copy-on-write to provide instant branches with full production data. This enabled per-developer branches for onboarding, a dedicated staging branch, a data science branch for heavy queries, and branch-based testing with real production data without PII leaving the VPC. Neon's ephemeral read replicas with no extra storage costs also improved performance. The CEO describes the experience as objectively better than traditional Postgres setups.
