After contacting Saleae support, the company's CTO revealed that during the 2020-2023 chip shortage, Saleae was forced to rapidly redesign their analyzers using available FPGAs. A first batch was manufactured with PCBs from a different supplier that, despite using the same Gerber files, had ground fill issues requiring manual rework. Due to insufficient crosstalk testing, 406 affected units shipped.
