Google announced AI-powered 'information agents' at Google I/O 2026, enabling users to create and manage background AI agents that continuously monitor topics of interest. Unlike traditional search, these agents synthesize information from multiple sources, explain context, compare perspectives, and send proactive push notifications. Use cases include stock market tracking, flight prices, sports, news, and housing trends. Users access the feature via AI Mode in Search. Rolling out this summer to Google AI Pro and Ultra subscribers in the U.S. first. Google also unveiled a major Search redesign with a conversational interface and smarter query suggestions.
