Apptronik, a University of Texas spinout building humanoid robots, raised an additional $520 million in a Series A extension, bringing total Series A funding to $935 million at a $5.3 billion valuation. The company partners with Google DeepMind, Mercedes-Benz, and GXO to develop embodied AI robots for warehouse and manufacturing tasks. Despite the large raise, Apptronik maintains it's still early-stage and responding to inbound investor interest rather than actively fundraising. The company's humanoid robotics work dates back to 2013 with NASA-DARPA Robotics Challenge participation.
