Huntress has made its RMM Guard feature free for all customers after reporting a 277% surge in attacks abusing remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools. RMM Guard, part of the broader Managed Endpoint Security Posture Management (ESPM) product, inventories all remote access tools in a customer's environment and automatically blocks any that haven't been explicitly authorised — including attacker-controlled copies of legitimate tools like ScreenConnect. Huntress notes that roughly a third of incidents observed this year could have been prevented by blocking unauthorised RMM software. The feature is designed to be simpler than traditional application control solutions, which are typically too complex for smaller IT teams and MSPs. The capability is now available to any Huntress customer with an agent deployed, with no additional subscription required.
