## Summary

A brief, informal reflection on the shift from writing code to supervising AI agents that still require approvals, answers, and retries, questioning whether this makes developers into managers of automation rather than beneficiaries of time savings.

Now they need approvals, answers, retries… and supervision.

At what point do you stop being the developer and become the manager? 😄

> AI Agent Manager... what a world we live in. Honestly it sounds like you need a more complex or stronger orchestration model to manage your AI agents. 🤣

> The approvals and retries seem like the useful measure here: how many minutes of human attention does one completed task still consume? A workflow can generate code quickly while moving most of the effort into reviewing uncertain decisions, recovering failed steps, and reconstructing what the agent already changed.
>
> I would track intervention time alongside completion time for a repeatable task, including failed runs rather than only successful ones. If the same approval keeps appearing, that gives you a concrete choice: improve the task contract, narrow the permitted action, or keep that...

> Very relatable. The automation itself becomes a product you maintain: logs, failures, edge cases. The ones that last are the ones with a clear owner and alerts when something silently stops.
