## Summary

VimVenture is a browser-based Vim learning tool featuring 54 keystroke-golf puzzles that challenge users to complete editing tasks in the fewest keystrokes possible. Puzzles cover motions, text objects, and macros, with a scoring system similar to golf where par represents the optimal keystroke combination. It also includes a speedrun mode and a daily challenge. No installation or account is required — it runs entirely in the browser. The motivation behind it is that most Vim tutorials teach commands in isolation, while this tool forces users to chain commands under constraints, mimicking real-world Vim usage.

## Content

Spent way too long watching people (including past-me) fumble around in Vim with arrow keys and `:wq` as their only real command. So I built VimVenture — browser-based puzzles where the goal is fewest keystrokes, not just "get it done." You're graded like golf: par is the optimal motion combo, and you're trying to beat it.

What's in it:

- 54 puzzles covering motions, text objects, and macros
- Speedrun mode
- A daily challenge (new puzzle every day)
- Runs entirely in-browser — no install, no account, no signup wall

Built it because most Vim tutorials teach commands in isolation; this forces you to actually chain them under a constraint, which is closer to how you use Vim day to day.

Try it: [https://vimventure.dev/](https://vimventure.dev/) — curious what your par times look like on the harder ones.
