## Summary

A developer shares the technical design behind Quiline, a browser-only markdown editor with no backend or account system. Read-only share links encode the entire document into the URL fragment so nothing is ever sent to a server, local images are saved as real files using the File System Access API instead of being uploaded, and a marketing/app split keeps the site crawlable despite having no server. The author invites discussion on how others have solved similar local-first architecture problems.

## Content

Wrote up the real technical decisions behind Quiline, a free markdown editor with no account and no server. Covers the read-only share links that encode the whole document into the URL fragment (so nothing ever touches a backend), why local images get saved as real files via the File System Access API instead of uploaded anywhere, and the marketing/app split that keeps it crawlable without needing a server at all.

Curious what this community thinks, especially if anyone's approached similar local-first problems differently

**Try it:** Quiline is live and free, with no signup to get past: [quiline.app](http://quiline.app).
