# I got tired of keeping JSON bodies in a notes file, so I built Fragments into my REST client

## Summary

Probe, a REST client, has added a feature called Fragments — saved bodies, parameter sets, or header sets that can be quickly inserted into API requests via a keyboard-driven picker (Cmd/Ctrl+I). Fragments support scoping to collections, specific endpoints, or path rules with wildcard segments, so the picker surfaces only relevant options. The same update includes a feedback button and 10 bug fixes. Probe is free to try.

If you test APIs all day, you know the two workarounds. Either you keep a notes file with JSON bodies and query parameters and copy paste from it, or you duplicate the same endpoint three times because each copy needs different parameters. Both get messy fast, and neither of them belongs in a REST client.

So I added Fragments to Probe.

A Fragment is a saved body, a param set or a header set, with a name. You open the picker from any tab with Cmd (Ctrl) + I, type part of the name, move with the arrow keys, press Enter. Then you choose what happens to the body already in the editor: insert at the cursor, or replace the whole thing. There is a “do not ask anymore” checkbox if you always want the same behaviour.

Fragments can also be scoped. You can attach one to a collection, to specific endpoints, or to a path rule where a numeric or uuid segment counts as a wildcard. Leave the scope empty and the fragment is offered everywhere. That way the picker shows you three relevant fragments instead of forty.

Same update also shipped a feedback button inside the app, above Settings, plus 10 bug fixes.

Probe is free to try. If you have a workflow that Fragments does not cover, tell me, that button exists for a reason.
