# I'm a USB-C Maximalist

**[Terence Eden](https://daily.dev/sources/shkspr)** · 3 min read · 17 upvotes · 5 comments

## Summary

A personal account of traveling Europe for 7 weeks with a single USB-C multi-port charger. The author lists every device they brought — phone, laptop, eReader, smartwatch, toothbrush, tracker, battery pack, headphones, and more — all charged via USB-C. The post argues that USB-C standardization makes travel simpler and that there is no reason to buy gadgets with proprietary charging ports.

> picking devices by port is a qualitY of life choice that we don't always consider, but it's pretty important for a good experience. i will say the one exception for C is that I sometimes prefer the experience of induction more. like my toothbrush I just throw into a cup and the charger base for the cup is all in one into outlet. the other case is my phone, which induction is hands down the best experience and worth carrying a different cable for imo

> I dig it. For the author's use cases, it makes total sense. If you're a traveler, outlets vary by region and being able to streamline power management saves trouble.

> For me personally, I love the idea, but in practice, I don't care for it. USB standards identification has always been a mess. Figuring out which power adapters conform to which standards and what will play with them has felt like it got muddier over time. As a homebody, it's less hassle just to get another power strip.
