For the longest time, Make has been a staple in my developer toolkit, acting as not only a build tool, but also as a task runner. Whilst there's good reasons to use Make as a build tool, I often find that I run into friction whenever I try to use it as a task runner, especially in 2026. Fortunately, I've found another tool to run tasks in my projects, one that's much better suited to the era of modern development.
