A maker project replacing the Google TV remote with a $25 ESP32-based touchscreen display (WT32-SC01 Plus). The custom firmware implements the Android TV Remote v2 protocol over TLS, using protobuf messages and mDNS discovery to pair with and control Google TV devices — the same protocol used by the official phone app. The display supports app launching (Netflix, YouTube, Jellyfin, etc.) via deep links, and a swipe-accessible second screen calls Home Assistant's REST API to control lights, automations, and scripts. The layout is fully reconfigurable via a web form served by the device itself, with no recompilation needed.
