A high-end workstation with a discrete GPU can draw around 500W — equivalent to a space heater on low — while modern mini PCs with mobile processors like AMD Ryzen HS or Intel Core Ultra cap TDP at 35–65W. The tradeoffs include loss of modular upgradability and reduced GPU performance for gaming or heavy media work, but for everyday productivity tasks the thermal and energy savings are significant.
