# I started a blog...and it's kind of insane

**[NetworkChuck](https://daily.dev/sources/networkchuck)** · 34 min read · 77 upvotes · 4 comments

## Summary

A reader is starting a blog inspired by Tiago Forte's book 'Building a Second Brain'. They're using a highly technical method involving Obsidian for note-taking, Hugo for converting markdown to HTML, GitHub for version control, and their chosen hosting provider. The goal is to make blogging seamless and integrated into their existing note-taking workflow. The post details the step-by-step setup process and emphasizes the importance of expressing and sharing ideas.

> Great video. On a similar note, there's Quartz (https://github.com/jackyzha0/quartz), an open-source version of Obsidian Publish. I use v3 (which uses Hugo). But it is not building a blog, but the second brain based on your Obsidian, with all backlinks and graph views. Besides blogs, you can also share notes (if that is something you like, similar to a second brain). See https://brain.ssp.sh for an example.

> This made me finally start a blog in probably the most ridiculous over complicated way. It was fun and enjoyable so good stuff.
